What is IPL and how does it work?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsing Light. It is a home treatment that concentrates light into the hair follicle, heating it up and disabling hair regrowth. It’s a great option for many women wanting to enjoy visible hair reduction.
The Nava IPL handset works by emitting light which targets the pigment in the hair to kill the hair growth cells. Hair will grow back more sparsely and slower with each treatment, reducing hair growth permanently over time.
Is my skin suitable for IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a new innovative hair removal treatment, clinically proven to treat hair on all areas of the body.
The laser light energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, which then turns to heat and destroys the hair cells.
Are the Nava IPL handsets safe to use? Can it cause cancer?
Clinical studies have proved the safety and effectiveness of IPL for hair removal.
IPL hair removal is a very safe treatment and if used as instructed, our handset poses no risks to the user. It is FCC, CE and RoHs certified for safe use.
The Nava handsets also ensure that all UV wavelengths are filtered by blocking wavelengths below 470 nm from the IPL spectrum. This is done to prevent the light from damaging the top layer of skin and thus avoiding the risks of skin cancer.
Do the skin treatments with an IPL handset hurt?
One of the many advantages of IPL handsets over other types of laser is that it is practically pain-free. Some might describe it as a slightly hot sensation, however, our handsets are less painful than other devices because of our special in-built ice cooling technology. The ice-cooling technology built into your Nava IPL handset reduces the skin temperature between 32-41 degrees Fahrenheit which prevents redness, swelling, or pain.
Does IPL improve skin texture?
IPL can help to even out your skin texture, reducing the effects of photo-aging caused by the sun’s harmful UV rays. It can help to reduce the appearance of birthmarks, liver spots, and freckles – though you should always consult with your dermatologist about the best method for you.
At what age can I start using an IPL device?
We recommend the IPL device to anyone over the age of 16 since that is when your hair follicle is mature. However, hair maturity also depends on ethnicity. If you are under the age of 18, kindly seek parental consent and consult your dermatologist before starting your treatment.
How long will it take before I will see results?
Results vary from person to person. This can vary depending on the coarseness of your hair and the area you’re treating. You will however notice your hair gradually grow back slower and sparser with each treatment. Most users notice a reduction of hair growth after just 3-4 uses, and complete results after 12 treatment sessions.
Do I need to wear eye protection?
Included with your Nava handsets are protective sunglasses that you may use during your treatments. However it is not absolutely required each time. That being said you should never try and look directly into the light as it flashes.
Mini Pro
How to use the Mini Pro
Follow the step-by-step guide to use your Nava Mini Pro:
Before using the handset
Step 1: Shave the area of treatment with the included razor or electric trimmer. The closer to the skin you can get, the more effective the flash will penetrate to the hair root. Do not pluck, wax or epilate the hair, as the hair root needs to be intact for the handset technology to work.
Step 2: Clean the skin and ensure it is hair-free, dry and make sure you have not applied any lotions or creams. Avoid applying condensation, aloe vera gel or any other products before initiating treatment.
Operating the handset
Step 1: Insert the adapter, press and hold the power button for 1.5 seconds to turn on or off the handset.
Step 2: Use the power button to switch the intensity levels by pressing it. The default setting is 1, short press the button to shift 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1. Start on level one for your first treatment and choose the correct level suitable for your skin tone thereafter. Level 1-lowest intensity, Level 5-highest intensity.
Step 3: The intensity bar will begin to blink once you place the light window onto your skin. This indicates that the handset is ready to be used.
Step 4: Ensure that the light window is flat against your skin and click the flash button to treat. The light window will flash pink when it is pressed directly against your skin. If the light window is not in direct contact with your skin the light will not illuminate and flash for your safety.
Step 5: The ice-cooling function is turned off by default. To use this function, short press the cooling button; the cooling function icon will display on the screen if it is turned on.
Step 6: Automatic handset shutdown: When the handset is turned on but not in use (not flashing), it will automatically shut down after 5 minutes.
What are the two modes on Mini Pro?
Mini Pro is designed to allow for maximum efficiency and customization of your treatment. This is why it comes with two modes to allow you to pace your session and target all areas in the most efficient way.
MANUAL MODE
Single Shot
Suitable for small or curved areas, such as knees, armpits, upper-lip and bikini line. Simply press the flash button and continue treating the target areas.
Glide
Convenient for large areas such as arms, legs and back. Press and hold the flash button and while ensuring the light window is in contact with your skin continuously. The flash light will continue as you glide the handset across your skin.
AUTO MODE
Auto mode will continuously fire the flash bulb without having to hold any buttons as long as the light window is in constant contact with the skin. To activate this mode, press and hold the cooling button for 2-3 seconds. Auto mode is convenient and well suited for large treatment areas such as legs, chest, or back.
How often do I need to use it?
This would depend on your skin & hair tone and your hair type. However, we recommend that you:
Week 1-4: 2-3 times per week
Week 5-6: twice a week
Week 7-8: once a week
Week 9-12: once every 2 weeks
Beyond Week 12: treatments once every 2 to 3 months, or as needed
Are there any after-use care tips?
1. It is recommended to avoid contact with water within 6 hours of using the handset.
2. The skin may be slightly inflamed, prickly or warm. The reactions are completely harmless and will soon disappear.
3. You can safely apply lotion, cream, deodorant or moisturizer to the treated area. If there is any tingling or redness after the treatment, please wait for these conditions to disappear before applying any other product to your skin.
4. Do not use perfumes, masks, or cosmetics containing frosted beads after skin depilation.
5. Avoid UV exposure for 24 hours after depilation. Apply sunscreen as required.
6. Sunbathing is likely to cause skin darkening or sunburn. Irradiation at this time will cause redness and may take up to a week to recover from the sunburn.
What are the best cleaning & maintenance practices for the Mini Pro?
1. In order to ensure the best results and the maximum service life of the handset, please clean before and after every use to avoid the long-term accumulation of hair and dust. Unclean handsets will not effectively function.
2. After use, ensure the handset is turned off and power is unplugged to cool down the device.
3. Use a soft, clean and dry cloth to wipe and clean the mirror surface of the light surface.
4. Store the device in a dry, dust-free environment at 10-60oC.
5. Never wash the handset and accessories in faucets and dishwashers.
6. Do not use steel balls, abrasive cleaners (toothpaste, etc.) or corrosive liquids (gasoline, motor oil, acetone, etc.) to clean the handset.
What are the tips and tricks for optimum results?
1. IPL is only effective when the hair follicle is attached to the hair cell, so be sure to not wax, pluck, or epilate before using the handset as this removes the entire hair cell.
2. It is recommended that you apply sunscreen if you are exposing yourself to the sun after treatment.
3. If you have sensitive skin, shave the night before or at least 6 hours before treatment to help avoid skin irritation.
4. Lifting the light window slightly after every flash will help cool the surface faster and help avoid overheating the skin surface with subsequent flashes.
5. Use the cooling function if you feel a heating sensation.
6. Moisturize the treated area after the treatment session to soothe your skin.

How to use the Ultra Pro?
Follow the step-by-step guide to use your Nava Ultra Pro :
Before using the handset

Best practices
1. Do not use the handset in or around water.
2. Do not use the handset near the eyes (use from the upper lip down).
3. Do not use the handset if you are under the age of 16.
4. Do not use the handset if you are menstruating, pregnant or lactating.
5. Do not use the handset if you have body scars, fragile skin and light-sensitive skin.
6. Do not use the handset if your skin is sensitive to light and prone to rashes or allergies.
7. Do not use the handset if you have severe heart disease, moderate to severe hypertension, or malignant tumors.
8. Do not use the handset if you are a patient with vascular diseases, such as varicose veins.
9. Do not use the handset if you have a bleeding disorder, and those who use isotretinoin, fruit acid (AHA), salicylic acid (BHA) or azalea acid.
10. You should not use IPL over very dark freckles or moles, however light freckles are fine.
11. Do not use the handset over tattoos.
12. Do not use the handset on broken or burnt skin.
13. Do not use the handset over the same area more than 3 times in a single session.
14. Never aim the handset light window at or near your eyes.
15. If you have been getting treatments at a laser clinic, you should wait 2 days before using the handset as this may increase your risk of a reaction.
16. Remove any artificial tan before using the handset. If you have been naturally tanning, you should wait 2 weeks before using the handset.
17. Wait 48 hours after using the handset before tanning (including any artificial tanning).
18. Consult your physician if you have any adverse reactions.

Your handset is protected with a worry-free 12 months production warranty from the date of purchase. If you have received a defective handset and require a replacement unit, simply follow these instructions:
1. Take a clear video of the defect. If the video does not clearly show a defect, you may not be eligible for a replacement.

1. TAKE YOUR BEFORE PHOTO
Before you shave, simply snap a photo of your treatment area so we can see how much hair you had before starting your Nava IPL hair removal journey.
2. SNAP YOUR WEEKLY PROGRESS PICTURE
The photo should be taken before you shave each week and of the same section of skin. You will need to take a minimum of 6 photos to accurately show that you used the IPL consistently throughout your 12-week journey.
NOTE: If you are using your IPL on more than one treatment area, you will only need to take progress photos on one area of the skin.
RETURN AND REFUND
A customer care team member will respond to your progress photos and assist you with the return and refund process. All refunds will be reimbursed back to the original form of payment once the handset has been received by the warehouse.
